The body of the instrument is fixed having a leaning of 600, correct refractive index and sugar percentage can be read directly in the field.
It consists of abbe double prism compensator, telescope mirror limb, grauduated sector, reading magnifier and a radial arm which carries a vernier, Abbe's double prism leaves a narrow space (about 0.1 mm.) between the adjoining the faces of prisms and compensator consists of the amici prism which serves for rendering the line of achromatic separation. Bath Thermostatic PSAW (675)

Abbe Double prism are heated by a double jacketed water bath in which warm water under 700 C circulates. The temperature of the water can be adjusted and read by the thermometer fitted on the double prism.

Butyro Refractomer PSAW (676)

The instrument can be used fsor measurement of fats in ghee and other such products giving a reading directly in terms of the oil scale also known as butyro scale. The micrometer eye-piece allows an accuracy on this scale of 0.1 and the oil scale using may also be converted in a refractive index scale using conversion tables. This allow measuremention materials with index of refraction in the range of 1.42 to 1.49 with an accuracy of 0.0002 as tables are supplied for converting oil scale reading into index of refraction, relative to mean sodium lines. The prism box is water jacketed for temperature control and a sample achromatising device enables the removal of all colours from the border line thus enabling the instrument to be used with white light.
The instrument is provided with a test liquid for checking and resetting the scale if necessary and is encased in a portable wooden box. Recraction range from 1.42 to 1.49 with accuracy of 0.0002 fitted with sugar and oil scale, sugar scale 50-80% and oil scale 0-100 %

Catalytic Hydrogenators Apparatus PSAW (693 )

Low pressure, shaker type similar to parr, Model CH 500.
A compact unit for chemical reactions which require the agitation of solution in the presence of a gas under pressure upto 60 lbs per square inch. Recommended for the numerous reduction and condensation reactions which arise in the synthesis and investigation of organic compounds and which are accomplished conveniently by treatments with hydrogen in the presence of a suitable catalyst.
The apparatus consists of shaker mechanism with 1/4 H.P.A.C. Electric Motor (totally enclosed, fan cooled type), glass reaction bottle capacity 500 ml., bottle clamp, perforated steel guard, gas supply tank of nickel plated brass capacity 4 litres and pressure gauge range 0 to 100 lbs per square inch. The reaction bottle of borosilicate tested to 100-125 lbs per square inch pressure. It can also accomodate glass reaction bottle of 250 ml. capacity. complete with tank inlet valve assembly, three way valve assembly for use betweeen tank and reaction bottle, 6 feet pressure tubing for connecting gas supply tank to hydrogen cylinder, 15: of pressure tubing for connecting reaction botte to gas supply tank.
The compound gauge (pressure cum vacuum gauge) fitted over 3-way valve assembly connecting tank to reaction bottle indicates vacuum in the intital evacution of bottle before reaction and pressure at the time of reaction the pressure measured by means of the gauge attached, assures a quick and accurate methd of measuring the rate of reaction and also the extent to which the reaction in the bottle has procede. The apparatus is fitted on a heavy M.S. basse plate duco painted and all other parts are chrome plated

This model is similar to BU-6 but provided with specially designed quick action jack with enables the operator to lift or lower the complete glass assembly safely with a minimum effort. This apparatus is very useful in the determination of the melting point of any substance in small quantity upto 3000C. It consists of a block of alluminium with built-in electric heating elements prepapred from kanthal heating wire. The block is bored axially with the diameter increasing the steps. Cover glass slip or this clear mica sheets are used in microscopic tests ons the steps to form enclosure in the block which is illuminated by arrangement fixed in its cabinet. Radial holes admit a thermoment fixed in its cabinet. Radial holes admit a themoment and glass capillary into the enclosure. The specimen is kept either in the capillary or directly on the glass bottom the viewing glass. The apparatus is supplied with thermometer and capillaries. It is suitable for 230 volts AC mains. Digital Automatic Melting Point Apparatus (773A)

The instrument is designed for accurate determination of melting points automatically and these melting points are displayed on front digital panel. It is generally used to estimate the melting points of organic substances and is suitable for quality control and research laboratories of chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food, plastic and various other industries.
The unit consists of a built-in miniature furnace, a digital temperature indicator with necessary controls and an air circulating arrangement. The furnace is precisely constructed to form a uniform heating media in which there is an arrangement to hold the capillary containing the sample. No external heating medial like silicon oil is required.
The change in transparency of the sample of the melting point is accurately sensed by a sensitive electronic circuit and the temperature of the melting point is displayed directly on the digital readout. Being fully automatic instrument human errors during the observation of the melting points are totally eliminated
The unit is very simple to operate with minimum controls. The temperature starts increasing on pressing the 'Start' switch on the panel and is indicated by a digital display. The rate of rise in temperature can be precisely contolled by a knob on the front panel. on reaching the temperature at which the sampel melts the heating gets automatically cutoff and the air circulating arrangement starts to lower down the temperature of the system. The temperature indicating the melting point of the sampel remains displayed on the panel till the 'Clear' switch is operated
The range of the instrument is from ambient to 2750C, readability is 1.00C. The unit works on 230 volts/50 Hz A.C mains supply

Precision Digital Melting Point Apparatus SO-MP (773B)

This is a compact instrument designed for accurate determinations of melting points of solid samples. The unit consists of a built-in magnetic stirrer, an electronic controller for adjusting the rate of heating of silicon oil bath, an ON/OFF switch, a pilot lamp, magnifier, a glare free illuminated background, a HIGH/LOW range selector switch and a digital temperature indicator with PT-100 sensor
 The silicon oil bath consists of a plain cylindrical container of corning glass having capacity about 200 ml. It is having a teflon cover with five holes. Three for holding the capillaries, one for the boiling point tube and one for the temperature sensor. Besides, it is fitted with a special type of oil immersin heater. The rate of heating of the bath can be precisely adjusted by the controller on the panel.
The tips of the capillaries fitted with sample powders can be kept suspended in the oil bath through the cover. The tips can be clearly observed through the magnifier on the illuminated background of the bath.
A highly sensitive PT-100 sensor is fitted to the equipment so that the melting points can be correctly determined by varying the temperature of the bath. A 'STOP' button is fitted on the front which is to be pressed when the desired change is observed in the sample under test. The temperature reached at that stage is then held on the digital display.
The operator can concentrate on the visual observation of the sample without looking to the thermometer, the readings obtained are very accurate.
  The range of the apparatus is from ambient up to 2500C, with readability 10C. The apparatus is supplied with 175 ml. Silicon oil for use up to 2500C and a box of capillaries. It can also be used for determination of boiling points, flow points and molecular weight by rast's method with special tubes, not supplied with the instrument.

Reference Chart Cabinet PSAW (885)

Teak framework, covered with sunmica. Drawers are made of teakwood with mica on front. Drawers provided with index card frame, puller knob with chrome plated steel rod in the centre. On the rod moves a metal plate (Finished in enamel paint) for keeping the cards in position. The metal plate can be adjusted at any desired position with the help of a lever. To prevent drawer from coming out of the cabinet a restraining lever is provided. if desired, the drawer can be taken out by moving the lever upward, finished in natural colour nitro-cellulose lacquer.
