For producing monochromatic light at a high density. Each lamp is approx. 170 x 30mm with an E.S. cap. And provide an arc centre height of 110mm. Both lamps are fully interchangeable. A Sodium B Mercury

The lamps give a steady light output of high intensity, and the special design of transformers ensure that the lamps ‘strike’ immediately they are switched on. When mounted on the integral stand, the lamp is enclosed by a cylindrical metal lamp housing with a circular aperture and the light centre height is adjustable from 200mm upwards. The transformer is an auto-leak type giving a starting voltage of about 470V which automatically reduces when the lamp has struck and regulates the current to 0.9A approximately. The transformer is housed in a two part sheet steel case with ventilation louvres and has lamp house sport rod mounted directly on to the transformer case to provide a convenient, self contained assembly. Without Lamp.

This kit is very useful for reflection, refraction and colour mixing experiments. The light box consists of a light source (12v,24W lamp) producing convergent, divergent or parallel beam. On one end an adjustable cylindrical lens (for parallel beam) and on the other end, a triple aperture system for colour mixing experiments (lateral aperture are provided with adjustable hinged mirror). All aperture in the box are provided with vertical channels to hold slits plates and colour filters. The optical set includes:
A / 10 acrylic blocks
B / Set of three mirrors
C / 2 slit black plates one with three narrow slits at one end and one narrow at the other end.
D / Black plate with four narrow slits at one end, one wide slit at the other end.
E / Set of severn mounted colour filters.
