Rigidity Apparatus Searle's Pattern PSAW (1208 )
One can find the modulus of rigidity and Young's modulus for the material of a wire by Searle's method.
The 30cm long wire under test is connected to two brass rods about 30 cm long at their mid points by two screws fitted at the ends of the wire. The rods are suspended from hooks. Complete with three test wires and connecting screws.

Rigidity Apparatus Dynamical Method PSAW (1209 )
It consists of an iron rod of length 16" and diameter 1". The circular rod is graduated 15-0-15 cm. The circular weight with thumb screw which fits into the rod is also provided. Supplied with cast iron wall bracket.

The tank is supported on four legs at a height of approx 170mm above the bench. In use, the rods are lightly coated with paraffin wax and the rates of melting compared.

EXPANSION OF LIQUIDS APPARATUS PSAW (1210 I )
For demonstrating the difference in thermal expansion of various liquids. Comprising of five bulb tubes with plastic scales, mounted in a frame and supported in water trough

Comprising of a cylinder 200x30mm dia. one half of which is wood, the other metal. If paper is wrapped tightly round the cylinder and the rod is held above the flame, the portion in contact with the wood will be quickly scorched while the portion in contact with the metal will remain unchanged.
