| It consists of two equal coaxial coils (parallel to each other) separated by a distance equal to the radius of the coils.
The permanent magnetic compass is provided on the brass cup at the midway between them and in the same direction. The coils increase the uniformity of the fields in the middle and thus make it more sensitive. Supplied with a superior quality permanent magnetic compass box of cat. No. 1078 D
